A New Chapter for Georgetown’s First Stand-Alone Public Library
UG Group (formerly 2WR+ Partners) proudly designed Quitman County Library, the first stand-alone public library for the Georgetown community. Previously housed as an annex within municipal offices, this new facility transforms into a dedicated space that enhances accessibility, engagement, and learning. The project aims to redefine the library’s role as a vital community resource, providing modern amenities and flexible spaces tailored to residents’ needs.
Designed with both function and affordability in mind, Quitman County Library includes spacious meeting rooms, a dedicated children’s area, and a central hub with printing and resource services. The layout encourages collaboration and learning while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
Thoughtful Design for a Functional and Sustainable Public Library
The architecture of Quitman County Library embraces simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability. UG Group prioritized natural light and scenic views by incorporating large windows, ensuring a bright and inviting interior. The design balances aesthetics with affordability, carefully selecting materials and building systems that provide durability without exceeding budget constraints.
Key features include:
- Generous Flexible Spaces – Adaptable areas accommodate community gatherings, study sessions, and educational programs.
- Dedicated Kids’ Zone – A specialized space fosters a love for reading and learning among young visitors.
- Integrated Resource Hub – A central desk offers printing, research assistance, and digital resources for public use.
- Repurposed Furnishings – To maximize cost efficiency, existing shelving and seating from the previous library were seamlessly incorporated into the new design.
Enhancing Community Access to Knowledge
With UG Group’s thoughtful approach, Quitman County Library serves as more than just a public library—it’s a dynamic community hub. The space supports literacy, digital access, and lifelong learning, strengthening its role in Georgetown’s future.
By blending affordable design, sustainability, and functionality, UG Group delivered a modern public library that meets the needs of both current and future generations.
