A Purpose-Driven Pediatric Hospital
UG Group (formerly 2WR+Partners) redesigned Bill and Olivia Amos Children’s Hospital to improve accessibility, efficiency, and patient comfort. The project moved Pediatric Inpatient Services from the Main Campus to the fifth floor of West Campus, formerly Doctors Hospital. This upgrade modernizes facilities, enhances the hospital’s layout, and creates a welcoming space for young patients and families. Additionally, a new main entrance improves access, increases parking, and gives the hospital a distinct identity.
Key Enhancements for a Leading Pediatric Hospital
To create a more advanced care environment, the renovation introduces several major upgrades:
- Fifth Floor Renovations: Modern patient rooms improve comfort, safety, and family interaction.
- Seamless Connectivity: Two enclosed, climate-controlled walkways allow easy movement between the Main and West Campuses.
- Upgraded Second Floor: Expanded office areas and enhanced patient services support daily medical operations.
- First Floor Additions: A new multi-purpose room, a convenient gift shop, and a spacious cafeteria improve the visitor experience.
- Outdoor Improvements: A tranquil healing garden and upgraded lighting create a peaceful, restorative setting.
A Child-Friendly Approach to Pediatric Hospital Design
To make the hospital feel inviting, the design draws inspiration from Columbus, Georgia’s natural landscape. Soft neutral tones paired with bright accent colors create a warm, comforting environment. Additionally, playful vignettes throughout the space make it visually engaging for children.
To further support young patients, an interactive video installation at the main entrance adds fun and distraction. This thoughtful design keeps children entertained and reduces stress as they move through the facility. Every detail helps ensure the pediatric hospital remains a welcoming and family-centered space.
Shaping the Future of Pediatric Care
Through smart planning and innovative design, UG Group has successfully blended modern healthcare needs with a child-focused approach. Bill and Olivia Amos Children’s Hospital now offers a bright, engaging, and highly functional environment that supports exceptional pediatric care.
