UG Group (formerly Emerald CM) partnered with RS&H Inc. to complete the RMCC Boulder Cancer Center, a 1,200-square-foot tenant finish designed to house state-of-the-art medical technology. The center features cutting-edge equipment, including a GE PET/CT scanner and Varian Linac, supporting the delivery of advanced cancer treatment and diagnosis. This project’s primary goal was to create a modern Cancer Center focused on optimizing patient care and operational efficiency.
Overcoming Challenges in an Occupied Cancer Center
The project presented unique challenges due to its location within an actively occupied building. To ensure minimal disruption to ongoing patient care, UG Group implemented strategic scheduling and multi-mobilizations across multiple floors. Our team worked double shifts, including after-hours work, to maintain smooth operations and minimize impact on daily activities.
One of the most challenging aspects of this Cancer Center renovation was removing over 42 inches of concrete at grade level to accommodate the new linac floor. This step was critical to ensuring precise support for the Varian Linac equipment. Our meticulous planning and execution were essential in meeting the client’s timeline and delivering a high-quality medical environment.
